Hello Readers, welcome back to my blog.

SUMMARY

Maddie Goldbloom stitched up a plan to ensure everything in her life was perfect—from a career in fashion to a chic NYC apartment to a paediatrician boyfriend.

When her ex, Chase Black, storms back into her life with an outrageous request, her immediate reaction is to refuse him. But he only wants to fulfil his father’s last wish. So even though he’s the man who broke her heart, playing his fiancée shouldn’t be hard, especially if it means she gets to watch the arrogant devil squirm a bit.

What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life—and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.

They say keep your enemies close. But what if your enemy is also the man you love?

Review

Maddie is a very good girl and she always wants to please people even if she doesn’t like them. She lost her mother to cancer when she was a teenager and has always kept her mother’s teaching to heart about always being compassionate. She is very heart broken when her relationship with Chase Black ends after she caught him cheating. So when Chase comes back into her life with a request that she plays his fiancé because his father is dying of cancer, she decides to accept because she knows what it means to lose a parent to cancer.

Chase Black is the opposite of Maddie in terms of personality. He is only nice to his family and that’s a stretch. He thought that he could get rid of his feelings for Maddie by getting on top of someone else. He doesn’t believe in love and the only reason he thought he liked Maddie was their sexual attraction to each other. So when he has to give his family some news to shift their focus from the fact that his father is dying, he thinks of Maddie.

I love this troupe – boy is mean to everyone but the girl he likes. Chase was so sarcastic all the time that it was just hilarious and it helped him deal with the difficult time his father had with cancer. It was nice to see the relationship between Chase and Maddie evolve to the stage it did and all the confusing hard emotions in between. I enjoyed the story although I wasn’t blown away by it.
