Hello Readers, welcome back to my blog.

The second of the ember months is almost over. I hope we have all had our flu vaccines coz these illnesses are not playing when they get a hold of you, let’s all stay safe. I couldn’t complete this story because my reading device got an illness of its own and I could no longer access my library, I am not looking for a new reading device.

SYNOPSIS

Ola Olajide, a celebrated journalist at Womxxxn magazine, is set to marry the love of her life in one month’s time. Young, beautiful, and successful—she and her fiancé Michael are considered the “couple goals” of their social network and seem to have it all. That is, until one morning when they both wake up to the same message: “Oh my god, have you seen The List?”

It began as a crowdsourced collection of names and somehow morphed into an anonymous account posting allegations on social media. Ola would usually be the first to support such a list—she’d retweet it, call for the men to be fired, write article after article. Except this time, Michael’s name is on it.

Compulsively readable, wildly entertaining, and filled with sharp social insight, The List is a piercing and dazzlingly clear-sighted debut about secrets, lies, and the internet. Perfect for fans of Such a Fun Age, Luster, and My Dark Vanessa, this is a searing portrait of these modern times and our morally complicated online culture.

Review

As this is a contemporary story, no world building is needed and the language is very young Londoner. The second line of the first chapter had me reaching for a dictionary. “Schadenfreude” means pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune – am I the only on that didn’t know this word existed let alone its meaning until now? This is one of the reasons I love reading, your vocabulary is continuously improving.

Ola’s boss is everyone’s boss, sympathise with your situation unto lot starts affecting your job, then they are no longer interested because it is hurting the bottom line of the organisation. I hope that if we become bosses in the future, we can do a better job of supporting employees in difficulty.

The awkward meeting Michael had about taking time off work was triggering for me because I’ve been in that situation and it wasn’t pleasant at all. I wish I got to finish this book but my reading device went on strike and I couldn’t access my library anymore. I gave 3 out of 5 stars due to how far in the book I got; I think this might have been a 5 star if I had finished it.
